Bonnie J. Schupp

Bonnie Schupp, teacher and photographer, has been recognized in education by the Fulbright Memorial Teachers’ Fund and in photography, locally and internationally, during the past forty years. Recently one of her photographs was selected for the Baltimore Museum of Art exhibit “Through the Lens” and another was selected by Women In Photography International for its silver anniversary limited edition book.

Her most recent work, “Defining Ourselves,” examines how people define themselves both through words and images. She asked a diversified gounp of people, “How do you define yourself?” Those who responded had to do so in one sentence of any length and begin with “I am....” As she received responses to the question, Bonnie collaborated with each person to create a photo portrait. Participants encompass a broad spectrum of people ranging in age from 4 to 100 and representing a dozen countries. The exhibit invites viewers to answer this question for themselves.
